Playing in Sunlight

As we all know April was an insanely busy month for us at Fairytree Photography. We had bunny day which was a blast! I definitely hope to make Bunny Day a yearly endeavor and next year I'll plan ahead and instead of just going, 'hey, i wanna do this, lets make it happen'. Cut out some of the scrambling and stress. Then we had a bridal shoot for my sister-in-law. As you can manage the month was pretty well filled with helping out with their wedding in all forms not just photography. My brother and his beautiful bride are back home now after a wonderful sun filled vacation that makes my mouth water for the beat of ocean waves and are settling in nicely. Then we had the fairy promo shoot. And as usual it seems we had a few snags there as well but all in all that turned out fantastic too.
The Bennett family photoshoot that I'm about to share with you was a last minute addition to our monthly schedule. I'm always happy to work with this family they are just picture perfect. Beautiful mother, handsome father, and cute little boy. We went out for this shoot, visiting a local location known as Rutledge Falls. Rutledge Falls is a nicely groomed little area whose owner is generous and thoughtful enough to keep it up and share the spectacular hidden waterfalls with the public. The falls aren't in any of these pictures because Mother Bennett was a little worried about the climb down with flip flops on. And I don't blame her, especially not with the precious cargo she's carrying.
As busy as April was, I would love it if every month from now on out were just as busy if not more.

This is the family's favorite picture!

If you happen to notice a glow about this family its not just because of the wonderful sunlit day. There's an extra member of the family in these pictures! They just found out about a week before the shoot that they'll be expecting their second child! Congratulations guys!

Fairy Wings and Other Things

I want to share some new advertising images I have created recently to help promote Fairytree Photography. But first with much trepidation I am announcing the woman in the fairy pictures is...me. The day of the Fairy shoot I had TWO wonderful models lined up to come out to our woodland spot and make magic. They each had a different style and a different vision. I was completely psyched to work with them. The day came and I was left waiting alone, with my extra set of wings, bubble mixture, and camera. Both of my models never showed. I was very upset both with the girls and with the wasted time but decided to make the most of the evening anyway. I racked through my old closet looking for clothes I had left at home after I moved and found an older prom dress. I borrowed makeup from my sister-in-law and with much hesitation became a fairy. I handed the camera over to my assistant photographer and second shooter and proceeded to model. I hate modeling. I can't see what the result is. I can't automatically change the angle or perspective. If the light is correct, if my wings were straight. I pretty much hated everything about the day, but I was bound and determined that it would not be a waste. And....it wasn't.
This is the most loved image from the session. I've already gotten so much feedback from this one image. The whimsy, the innocence, sigh

This is my personal favorite. I actually love this picture because it is me.  Imagine that....

This one gets alot of oohs and ahhs too. Somehow I managed to shrink myself down to pixie size, or at least it looks that way.

Bubbles bubbles everywhere. One of the few shots the bubbles managed to stay in. Its been called elegant, I prefer magic.

And lastly, I like this one, though I don't think many other people do, because of the wild nature of the image. Like the fairy could spring off the page and devour the viewer.
I'm still not thrilled that the face in these pictures is mine, but they really do speak volumes about Fairytree Photography. About the magic and the fairytale that is someone's life. That's what we're about here, the magic, the fairytale, the memory. And even after the mosquito bumps have faded I'll still have this memory for a very long time.

Bridal Beauty

For those of you who don't already know...My brother got married yesterday afternoon to his best friend of eight years. I am so happy and excited for them. It was an amazing experience watching him wed the woman I have maintained would be perfect for him since the first time I met her. I've been sitting on her bridal pictures for the past week or two, waiting on showing them off so that the first time he saw her in her dress was the moment she walked around the corner. It's been hard to keep them to myself because the bride is so beautiful and the pictures really reflect that.  It was a privilege and an honor to take her bridal pictures not only because she's my new sister *eek!*, but because she's a wonderful photographer in her own right.
There wasn't a dry eye in the house of these two wonderful people exchanged their own personal written vows for each other. Now they're on their honeymoon and I know when they get back I'll get to look at tons of pictures of white sandy beaches, turquoise waters, and baby blue skies.
So now that the big day is finally over I'm proud to present the newest addition to my family,  Mrs. Cooley!
This is my favorite picture possibly of all time! So dreamy and romantic. A fairytale. That's what magic memories and Fairytree Photography are all about.

This next one captures the pure joy of getting married!

I love the sense of perspective in this picture. A wonderful closeup of the bouquet (handmade by the bride herself)!

Another dreamy photo! The pink dogwoods framing her face in this picture were gone just  a few days later, but here they are captured forever just as bright and beautiful as they were that spring day.

Another personal favorite of mine. The bride has such gorgeous blue eyes and I really wanted to draw attention to them.
